I woke up one morning, and my twitter was full of notifications. It turned out that I had won a contest! I had been retweeting different makeup contest tweets, and I finally won one! I won an Illamasqua palette, and an Illamasqua lipstick. Of course, I was so excited! I had never heard of Illamasqua before, so I started researching it. Illamasqua began in London, it is actually a newer company founded in 2008. It was inspired by 1920's Berlin Club Scene, and the make-up for the folks of film, and those in the alternative scene. At first, I figured I would be getting a palette with very dramatic colors, a very dark lipstick, and I was unsure if I would be brave enough to wear these dreamt up colors out in public. When I received my make-up palette and lipstick, it was dramatic, but they were also pretty neutral colors. That is, after all, the palette's name: neutral.
I received the lipstick in the shade of Sangers. The first time I tried it, it was really, very bright against my pale skin tone. The next time I tried it, I dabbed it lightly on my lips to make it not so pigmented. I made the color a little darker for this look. I used the palette to it's full advantage today just to show off the shades. I began with the black shade as the base on my eyelid, I used the gold for my crease, I used a light swipe of the brown just under my eyebrows, and the white for the inner lid. This look is really quite dramatic, and far from my everyday make-up, but I wanted to access my "alter ego". That is their slogan, "Make-up for the alter ego". I am in love with this beautiful palette. The gold color is dark, very pigmented, and shiny. It is very good quality make-up, you can tell during application. I was excited about the black shade, it will be fun to sport that color on Halloween, making my eyes way more dramatic than I am used to. I am very excited! This palette is perfect.
