I usually drink water, all the time! I love water more than coffee and soda. I don't know why... it just tastes amazing. It feels refreshing and I love the cool feeling of the ice water going through my body.I knew there were benefits to drinking lemon water, and I have been drinking lemon water off and on for a couple years, I just thought it was for taste. Yes, it's for taste... but also for much much more! I did some research on Pinterest... yes again, Pinterest. I found a blog that gave 5 really good reasons to drink lemon water! I am going to word them in my own words, but here is the link to the blog that gave me the reasons:
I am also going to do more reasons, some reasons that I didn't find on this blog. For the most part, this blog covers most of the reasons, but there are a few that are missing.
And yes, another mason jar!
Ok, so the five main reasons to drink lemon water!
1.) Lemon water helps balance your body's pH. When lemon is metabolized it is turned into alkaline. Alkalies help keep the oxygen in our blood at safe pH level. Also helps our bodies heal quickly and fight off unwanted sicknesses.
Some people keep track of their Alkalies intake because of medical reasons, the author of the blog that I took the reasons from was diagnosed with cancer, and she is fighting it off nutritionally. I'm proud of her for that! That is an awesome story.
2.) Lemon water keeps skin clear and glowing! Drinking lemon water helps keep your skin hydrated. This keeps your skin moisturized naturally, and since lemon has a lot of Vitamin C in it, it is a natural remedy for acne and blemishes, it helps keep skin clear of that mess. Drinking lemon water also helps prevent and treat wrinkles.
3.) Lemon water kick starts your digestive system. A big glass of lemon water is a wonderful way to start your day. Lemon water encourages your liver to produce a bile with helps with digestion. It increases urination which helps purify it. Lemon water also help with heart burn and constipation.
4.) Lemon water aids in weight loss. Lemons are high in fiber, which helps keep the body full longer. They also have a diuretic effect, which helps with water weight gain.
5.) It helps control coffee and soda habit. In many cases, lemon water helps wake you up more than coffee will. And to control your soda habit, all you have to do is buy some mineral water and squeeze some lemon in it. There you go, homemade Sprite!
Now, those were the reasons that were from the blog I put a link to and those reasons basically cover it. These are other 'miscellaneous' reasons that are just scattered here and there.
1.) Lemon water helps boost your immune system. Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds. They are high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium also helps control blood pressure and cramping.
2.) Lemon water freshens breath. Not only this, but also can relieve tooth pain and gingivitis. The citric acid can erode tooth enamel, but there are tooth pastes that can help strengthen and cure the enamel erosion.
3.) Lemon water helps relieve respiratory problems. Warm lemon water helps get rid of chest infections and help with the coughs. It is also said that it is helpful to people with asthma and allergies.
4.) Lemon water relieves stress. Vitamin C is one of the first things depleted when you are stressed. Lemons are very high in Vitamin C, so drinking lemon water can help keep you Vitamin C levels high!
There are many other benefits, but those are the main ones. Also, I read on Instagram this morning that if you drink a cup of hot lemon water in the morning and one at night, that it helps cleanse your body of the day and from the night. It will cleanse your bowels and all the mucus... it is good for you! By all means!! ha. The person deleted the rest of the description, so I don't know what else it does. urgh. But it is good for you!
Lemon water is fantastic! I love it, and I have decided that I am going to do a detox post every two days. There are tons of detox drink recipes and I am going to try hard to try them all!
Keep healthy folks!
